Quiet and reserved, Lou Gehrig often stood outside the spotlight.  Nonetheless, his skills as a hitter and his strength and durability will forever be legendary.  During his seventeen seasons with the Yankees, he had a career batting average of .340, tallied 493 home runs, and played in 2,130 consecutive games-a record that stood for fifty-six years.  The Iron Horse was a seven-time All-Star, a two-time American League MVP, a winner of the Triple Crown, and a three-time American League home run champion.  He also guided the Yankees to six World Series championships.  Yet his courage off the field was equally impressive.  As his health deteriorated, he removed himself from the Yankee's lineup, ending a fourteen year span in which he had never missed a game.  After being diagnosed with ALS-a disease that would come to bear his name-Lou Gehrig gracefully exited the game, thanking fans while stating, ‚"I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth".  Celebrate Gehrig's legacy with Stance's Iron Horse.
